American Flamingo silver coin, 1 oz. 2021 minted by the Pobjoy Mint.
Many small countries use bullion coins to publicise the symbols or characteristics of their nation around the world. We are talking about flora, fauna or any icon that is representative of these, something that is more common to see lately. In this case, the country is the British Virgin Islands and its protagonist is the American flamingo, a species that although it is not native to the British Virgin Islands, it is common to see in all its coastal areas and lagoons.
The design of the coin is incredible. The animal appears on its cross, whose structure has an external part of a lighter tone and where the name and specifications of the coin are inserted, and an internal part where the birds appear.
In the foreground there is a large flamingo, which we can see scratching its trunk with its beak and resting its feet on the water, and in the background, a group of flamingos together. The whole image is very endearing and striking.
On the face is the face of Queen Elizabeth II in spectacular detail, with the contrasting wavy lines of the hair contrasting with the straight lines of the crown. On the outside of the face, the name of the country, the name of the monarch and the year of issue of the coin.
The American Flamingo bullion was produced by Pobjoy Mint in 2021 and contains 1 ounce of 99.999% pure silver, has a diameter of 38.60 millimetres and a thickness of 3.80 millimetres.
