1 oz. silver Icon coin, minted in 2020 by the Pressburg Mint.
According to Greek tradition, the word icon had several meanings: an image, a work of art or a very characteristic person who embodied a number of representative ideals. Pressburg Mint has taken this idea as its starting point for the Icon coin.
This is one of the coins with the most groundbreaking and transgressive design. On the cross there is a background formed by small diagonal lines arranged in a regular pattern, ending in a small line that borders the coin, the outside of which is formed by a succession of straight lines stamped in a pattern that forms a symbol well known in ancient Greece.
In the centre of the coin is written the word ICON, divided into two lines, based on vertical lines running in the opposite direction to the background. Behind them is the face of the statue of Diana, a Roman goddess whose figure is drawn by the interplay of the diagonal lines and its bas-relief printing.
The structure of the face is very similar, except that instead of diagonal lines the lines are irregular curves that converge in the centre, where we find the face of Queen Elizabeth II. The outer face also features the Greek quadrangular motif. Around the Queen are her name, the name of the region where the coin is minted and the face value of the coin (5 New Zealand dollars).
The Icon coin, minted in 2020 by the Pressburg Mint with 1 ounce of 99.999% pure silver, has a diameter of 38.00 millimetres and a thickness of 2.80 millimetres. Get this unique coin for its design and structure and add it to your collection!
