Australian Koala 1 oz silver coin of 2021, minted by Perth Mint.
The koala is, along with the kangaroo, one of the animals that best represents the fauna of Oceania. It is partly because of this fame that Perth Mint has made them two of the most important series in its catalogue. Every year, since 2007, a different series has been launched with a different design.
The main design of the animal is found on the cross. Created by the artist Monique Reeves, in it we see a small koala resting on the branches of a tree, in a very tender pose with its two hands holding a branch and its body suspended above the tree.
The design is mainly notable for the attention to detail: the veins of the branches and the animal's fur can be seen perfectly, and the chiaroscuro of the shadows can also be appreciated in the image. The background is completely flat, very similar to that of the outer face of the cross, which is divided by a line that borders the coin and on which we find its name and specifications.
On the face is the face of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jordy Clark. As with the cross, there is an outer and an inner side. On the outer side are the Queen's name, the country where the coin is minted and the face value (1 Australian dollar). In the centre, the bust of the monarch, with special attention to her wavy hair, crown and pearl necklace.
The Australian Koala coin was minted by the Perth Mint in 2021 with 1 ounce of 99.999% pure silver, has a diameter of 40.60 millimetres and a thickness of 3.80 millimetres. Add it to your collection at the best price guaranteed!
