The Who 1 oz silver coin minted in 2021 by The Royal Mint.
Music Legends is the latest successful series from The Royal Mint. The British mint has decided to pay tribute to its great musical artists with a commemorative issue featuring the most famous British bands and singers of the 20th century.
In this case we have the coin of The Who, a very iconic British rock band considered part of the country's soundtrack for more than 50 years. Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John 'The Ox' Entwistle and Keith Moon were major players in UK culture.
For the design, Henry Gray has tried to encapsulate the essence of the band by bringing the most recognisable symbols to the coin. On the cross, for example, we see an electric guitar in the nadir plane (from below) with Union flag decoration placed in front of a loudspeaker and with the band's symbol at the top of the coin.
On the outer part of the coin, the part closest to the edge, we see an effect similar to sound waves, so that it seems to radiate from the loudspeaker that appears in the design, adding to the beauty of the coin.
On the face is British artist Jody Clark's design of Queen Elizabeth II, around which is her name, the inscription 'Dei Gratia' (God's Grace), its face value (2 pounds) and the coin's specifications.
The Who coin from The Royal Mint is minted in 1 ounce of 99.999% pure silver, weighs 31.104 grams and has a diameter of 40.00 millimetres. Get it at the best price and show off this jewel and your favourite music in the best way!
