Silver Krugerrand 1 ounce coin of the year 2021.
It belongs to the South African Mint. It is a very exclusive issue, of which only 20,000 were minted, and of which very few are currently in circulation. It is one of the most popular coins among collectors and investors, and therefore always sells out quickly.
The cross depicts the antelope, one of the quintessential animals of South Africa's fauna, which is shown with all four legs in motion, in a perfect foreshortening that is striking in its simplicity and beauty. Beneath its legs is a bas-relief of a small natural landscape where the animal appears to be scampering. The details of the fur on the back and rear of the mammal stand out. The year of issue of the coin appears on either side of the mammal, with the name of the mint above it.
On the face of the 2021 Krugerrand silver coin is the face of the coin's namesake: a bust of Paul Kruger, South African resistance leader and President of the Republic in the early 19th century, with a design by the artist Otto Schultz. He is depicted with a bushy beard and dressed in an elegant suit. Krugerrand is the combination of the name of this important historical figure and South Africa's legal tender, the Rand.
The 2021 Krugerrand silver coin contains one ounce of the grey metal, measures approximately 38.725 millimetres in diameter and weighs 31.107 grams.
