Back to the Future coin: 35th anniversary, 1 ounce minted by the New Zealand Mint in 2020.
Back to the Future was undoubtedly one of the most popular films of the 20th century. Its plot, the charisma of the main characters and all that it bequeathed marked all the spectators who went to the cinema to enjoy a film set in the not so distant future, 2020. From 1985 to the present day, it continues to be broadcast on televisions all over the world because, despite being 35 years old, it seems not to age.
The design of the film can be found on the cross. On a flat background, with a series of lines that resemble the lightning flashes that occur on each trip to the future at the top and digits at the bottom, we find the DeLorean DMC-12, the vehicle used for the time travels, in bas-relief.
The level of detail with which the DeLorean has been rendered is magnificent: from the rims to the tyres, the flux capacitor and the boot, everything is represented in the greatest detail. On the bonnet of the vehicle is the name of the film (with its own font) and the number of years it turned 35 in 2020.
On the face is Ian Rank-Broadley's design of monarch Elizabeth II, featuring a not overly baroque crown whose straight lines contrast with the wavy lines of her hair. Around it, the name of the country where the coin is minted, the name of the monarch, the year of issue and the face value (2 dollars).
The Back to the Future: 35th Anniversary coin is minted in 1 ounce of 99.999% pure silver, weighs 31.105 grams and has a diameter of 40.60 millimetres. If you are a die-hard fan of the series, you can't pass up the chance to own this bullion!
