Silver King Lion coin, 1 ounce minted in 2020 by the New Zealand Mint.
The New Zealand Mint has reached a partnership agreement with Disney, in which Disney has the rights to mint bullion of the most famous characters in the publishing franchise. Mickey Mouse, Donald, the Marvel superheroes and dozens of stars from their films have been converted into coins to captivate their fans.
In this case, the protagonists are Simba and Rafiki, characters from the Lion King: in fact, the coin depicts one of the most characteristic scenes from the film, with the monkey raising the future monarch in front of the entire animal world. In the design of the cross, we see Rafiki raising Simba up on a large rocky surface. Around the coin, small rectangular lines are drawn in the centre of the coin, allowing a star to be drawn. And at the bottom of the coin, the name of Disney and the film with its own style of lettering.
On the face of the coin is the design of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, showing an elderly monarch with an incredible level of detail in the curls of her hair as well as in her crown, which is not overly decorated. Around her, and on a flat background, her name, the name of the company that minted the coin, its face value (2 dollars) and the year of issue.
The Lion King coin is minted with 999.999 pure silver, weighs 31.107 grams, measures 40 millimetres in diameter and is 3 millimetres thick. Complete your Disney coin collection at your trusted coin shop! Are you missing a series? Ask us and we will find it for you without any problem!
