In 2015, The Royal Mint decided to turn the most significant corners of the giant city into a series of coins, which were spectacularly received by the public and whose stocks were quickly exhausted.
Here we have the second coin in the series: the Tower Bridge, one of the most famous and beautiful suspension bridges in the world, which crosses the Thames and whose construction was completed in 1984.
The coin features the two identical towers that give the bridge its name and connects to the bridge from a diagonal angle and in counterpoint. All the details can be seen: the windows, the sculptures, the structures that connect the two buildings... The background is not completely flat, but has small bas-reliefs that give the impression of a cloudy sky, a common scene in the United Kingdom.
At the top of the coin, and surrounding the coin, we find the name of the coin, the year it was minted and the amount of metal and its fineness.
On the face is the design of King Elizabeth II by the artist Jordi Clark, with a background of small dots in bas-relief that help to create depth of space.
