Krugerrand 1 ounce gold coin of the year 2022.
The Krugerrand is a coin of South African origin, named after the combination of President Paul Kruger's name, which appears on the face of the coin, and South Africa's legal tender, the Rand. It was first minted in 1967 and is now jointly produced by the South African Mint and the Rand Refinery in South Africa.
The cross depicts the South African antelope (springbok), one of the quintessential animals of the South African fauna, shown with all four legs in motion, in a perfect foreshortening that is striking in its simplicity and beauty. Beneath its legs is a bas-relief of a small natural landscape where the animal appears to be scampering. The details of the fur on the back and rear of the mammal stand out. The year of issue of the coin appears on either side and the name of the coin appears above it.
The face of the 2022 Krugerrand gold coin features the face of Paul Kruger designed by Otto Schultz. Kruger was a leader of the South African Boer resistance against the British and President of the Republic in the late 19th century. He is depicted with a bushy beard and dressed in an elegant suit.
It is remarkable that on both the face and the cross of this bullion, we can see that the name of the country and the gold content, its purity, are written in English and Afrikaans.
The 2022 Krugerrand gold coin has a purity of 91.67%. It contains 1 ounce of pure gold (31.104 grams), and 2.826 grams of copper, which gives the coin its orange colour. Its total weight is 1.09 ounces (33.93 grams) and it measures 32.77 millimetres in diameter and 2.77 millimetres thick.
It is a very exclusive issue and very few of these coins are currently in circulation. It is one of the most popular coins among collectors and investors, so it always sells out quickly.
