Perth Mint's 2019 Australian Kangaroo 1/2 ounce gold coin.
Encouraged by the success of other series of animal coins, the Perth Mint decided in 1989 to launch its own coin featuring one of the great protagonists of its fauna and flora: the kangaroo. Since then, and after an excellent reception, they decided to launch an annual edition. In the case of the gold coins, the design is different every year.
The design of the animal is on the cross. In the 2019 edition it appears alone, between two trees in a forest and under the watchful eye of the sun. The design highlights the kangaroo's fur, in which the different coats on its trunk, its ears and its long tail, which disappears at the edge of the coin, can be distinguished.
The cross has two distinct parts: the centre, where the animals are, and the outside, with a darker background, where the name of the coin, the year of issue, the metal with which it was minted and its quantity, as well as the plants sprouting from the outside, can be found.
On the face, the traditional face of Queen Elizabeth II in bas-relief, on which we find, on a flat background, her name, the country of origin of the coin and its face value: 100 Australian dollars.
The 2019 Australian Kangaroo 1/2 ounce gold coin has a purity of 999.9, weighs 15.552 grams, with a face value of 50 Australian dollars, has a diameter of 25.10 millimetres and a thickness of 2.2 millimetres.
The 2019 Australian 1/2 ounce gold Kangaroo can be an excellent bullion to bolster your precious metals holdings, as it combines the best of collecting and investing: a series with a changing design and mintage in the ultimate safe-haven security.
