Gold coin Britannia quarter ounce of the year 2017. It belongs to the British mint, The Royal Mint.
This is one of the flagship products of The Royal Mint, the UK mint, one of the most prestigious in the sector.
This year's issue is characterised by a brighter and more refined appearance, with a highlight being the illuminated finish and background and the excellent details of the clothing of the images depicted on the face and the cross.
The figure of the goddess Britannia is depicted on the cross, with a bas-relief in which she wields a trident, a shield with the country's flag and an olive branch, representing her love of peace. The image is very rich in detail and appears to be in movement thanks to the position of the clothes and hair, which are shifted to the left and add dynamism to the scene. The detail of the figure's robe is spectacular, blending in with some of the figure's muscles.
Around her, the background does not have a flat surface, but is filled with small dots that give the sensation of depth and seem to represent the sun's rays as they appear to project from the centre to all sides.
On the face is the face of Queen Elizabeth II, whose background is shown in a style very similar to the cross, with the dots evenly distributed. Most notable are the crown jewels, which contrast perfectly with the background, and her hair, which has quite a few curving, intertwining lines.
Although simple, the edge of this 2017 gold Britannia coin is spectacular: it is the simple fluting formed with regular vertical stripes that give a sense of geometric precision.
This 2017 Britannia coin is made of gold, is a quarter ounce, weighs 7.88 grams, has a diameter of 22.05 millimetres and has a face value of 25 pounds.
